Activision Announces Ghostbusters Game

We recently got the exciting news that there will be a brand new Ghostbusters movie … and now we can look forward to a new Ghostbusters game, just announced by Activision in conjunction with Sony Pictures!

The game is inspired by the new film, but takes place years later. Ghostbusters will feature original characters. Your job will be to lead your team through New York City and halt all the spooky occurrences. At the start of play, you can choose to play any of four different Ghostbuster characters, each with unique skills.

Here is the Activision description:

Ghostbusters, is a third-person action role-playing game positively charged for thrilling couch co-op with up to four players locally. As rookie Ghostbusters, players can level up their characters’ gear and abilities by tackling objectives, defeating ghastly creatures and discovering hidden collectibles in Manhattan’s most haunted haunts.

Here is the trailer:

Judging by the likes and comments, the trailer isn’t being very well-received. Whether this is because fans really aren’t excited about the game or because there is an abundance of comments from a few haters is impossible to say at this point. Though looking at the video, we can definitely say the graphics do look a little dated.

Nonetheless, hopefully the new Ghostbusters movie will result in some other videogame tie-ins. Telltale would do a great job with a Ghostbusters story, and wouldn’t it be awesome to have an Ecto-1 car for Rocket League?

Ghostbusters will come out on July 15th, the same day the movie will be released. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Are you excited about the new game or do you agree with the negative commenters on YouTube? Let us know in the comments below!
