Battlefield 1 Is Now The Most Liked Trailer Ever on YouTube, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Is The Most Disliked

The title on this one says it all.  Recently we watched as the trailers for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Battlefield 1 came out nearly side-by-side.  Call of Duty is the most successful FPS franchise in existence, but it definitely is not winning the trailer war.

When Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s trailer hit, it was immediately greeted by a barrage of contempt.  In fact, with more than 1.65 million dislikes, it is currently the most disliked videogame trailer ever on YouTube.  This also makes it the fourth most disliked video ever posted on the site!

Battlefield 1 on the other hand is killing it!  It currently has more than 20,000 dislikes—but that is nothing compared to 1.65 million.  As to likes, it has more than 1.2 million of those!  This makes it the most liked trailer ever posted on YouTube.  The closest runner-up is the trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which has accumulated over 666,000 likes.  That only a little more than half of what the Battlefield 1 trailer has amassed!

Just after the Infinite Warfare trailer was released and prior to the Battlefield 1 trailer coming out, the Battlefield developers did trash talk it, but took those tweets down.  It was bad form, but still not enough to give Battlefield a bad name.

The only really exciting thing that could help see COD through this troubling turn of events is the fact that they will be remastering and re-releasing Modern Warfare alongside Infinite Warfare.

… Of course they have gone and shot themselves in the foot yet again by announcing you can only get the newly remastered Modern Warfare by purchasing a special edition of Infinite Warfare.  There is still time for them to change that decision, but it may be complicated since Raven Software is handling the development.

In any case, it is hard to imagine this will be a death knell for Call of Duty, which seems fairly bullet-proof, but perhaps this will be the first year ever that Battlefield 1 wins the shooting war.

Why do you think that Battlefield 1’s trailer did so well while COD’s new trailer tanked?  Is it that gamers are getting tired of the near-future setting COD is rehashing yet again?  Or are gamers just getting sick of Call of Duty?  Share your thoughts in the comments!
