DOOM 4 Was Cancelled Because It Was Too Similar to Call of Duty

Originally this year’s Doom was going to be titled “Doom 4,” and as it turns out, it was going to be a very different game. Actually, according to a new documentary called Doom Resurrected: To Hell & Back, in a way it wasn’t going to be different enough—from Call of Duty. It was going to have a lot of cinematic sequences and story emphasis.

The problem is that this didn’t feel like a Doom came. It felt like “Call of Doom.”

We have enough Call of Duty games and COD clones on the market as it is. Fans of the franchise are grateful that this year’s Doom game was a classic revival of the groundbreaking series in its original format.
