Fans have waited for years for the next chapter in the Gears of War franchise, but Gears of War 4, available exclusively for the Xbox One, looks to be worth the wait. Since developer Epic Games is no longer associated with the franchise, Microsoft has given the reigns to The Coalition, the developer formally known as Black Tusk Games. Microsoft and The Coalition have promised that Gears of War 4 will present some of the best graphics we’ve seen in this console generation; if the above screenshot of a church is a taste of what we’re in store for, it looks like Microsoft and The Coalition will live up to their promise.
Gears of War 4 won’t just take place indoors, as your crew will frequently find themselves fighting amid nature and often fighting against it as well. Windflares, deadly crosses between hurricanes and lightning storms, are just one of the deadly traps nature will have in store for you. If the bolts of lightning don’t singe you, the powerful gusts are constantly throwing all manner of objects into your path. However, crafty players can turn windflares to their advantage by dislodging cars, signs and other objects so they fly straight into the face of your enemies; just make sure to get out of the way when your opponent’s lifeless corpse starts flying through the air toward you.
