PlayStation Network has some serious problems when it comes to download speeds—if the word “speeds” can even be used in this context. It isn’t unusual for a download to take hours (when it should take minutes), and this sort of thing has been going on for years.
While gamers have proposed a number of workarounds over the years, none of them have worked all that reliably (if at all). But there is one method which a lot of gamers online are reporting actually works …
- Start by downloading and installing a proxy server such as CCProxy on your computer.
- Launch it and then get the IP and port number.
- Set up a new internet connection on your PS4 through the custom setup. Choose “auto” for everything but the proxy.
- Manually enter the IP and port number of the proxy.
Just remember, you may want to turn off the proxy when you are not using it for downloads. That way you can rely on your regular connection for actual gaming, streaming and browsing.
