A lot went down in the midseason finale of season 7 of The Walking Dead … Negan headed into Alexandria and quite literally gutted Spencer. Then he had sweet, kind Olivia killed to punish Rosita for trying to kill him … and Rick Grimes has had enough. That’s right, it’s time to go to war.
Speaking to Deadline, Executive Producer Gale Anne Hurd said, “There’s no question that I think with Michonne’s pep talk and with Daryl back, Rick is finding his mojo again. I don’t think they’re going to be willing servants of Negan’s anymore.”
The people of Alexandria have finally had a chance to see firsthand just how vile Negan and the Saviors really are. Not a lot of people are going to care about Spencer, but poor Olivia is someone that pretty much everyone in Alexandria can sympathize with. As Hurd says, “In Negan’s world he just says kill somebody and you never know whose number is going to come up. That’s not a world that the rest of our Survivors are going to want to continue to live in.”
Be sure to tune in on Sunday, February 12th for the midseason premiere!
