Videogame tormented and killed people, it’s releasing again 30 years later


You may know the urban legend of Polybius, an arcade game which supposedly came out in the early 1980s and which apparently gave gamers headaches and nightmares while unleashing suicidal tendencies.  Shortly after its release, Polybius disappeared entirely—if it was ever real at all.


Now Sony has announced that a new game called Polybius is on its way to PlayStation VR.  It is being developed by Jeff Minter, who worked on Space Giraffe and Tempest 2000.


The game will be a PlayStation VR exclusive.  Minter announced it in a completely bizarre way, claiming in a 1,600-word story that he discovered the infamous game of urban lore in a secret location.
