Excellent news for anyone who has ever purchased a game on Steam based on false advertising … Steam is now going to start banning developers for misleading images. That means cinematic still screens, concept art, marketing art, and any other images which inaccurately portray the content and quality of a game.
Valve will be enforcing this policy on itself as well. In the post where the new rules are outlined, the company provides an example using Dota 2. The images used to promote that game previously included conceptual artwork; now they will be replaced by screenshots of game play.
